181. Illustrateurs

On prend un café avec Terry J. au "Courthouse". Terry est illustrateur. Il fait des images super-réalistes typique US. Il vit, ici, àWarsaw. Il parle un français impeccable. Il a grandi en France. Il me dit que ce qui lui manque le plus de la France, c'est la nourriture (Ah ah ! Si il m'avait dit que c'était la gentillesse des français, je serais tombé de ma chaise). Je lui montre mes dessins. J'aimerais savoir si je peux publier aux états-unis. Il me dit que mon style, très européen, pourrait trouver preneur sur la côte est ou la côte ouest, mais au milieu, peu de chance. J'avais déjà rencontré des éditeurs américains en allemagne. Mon style, trop pas assez pour leur marché américain, ne les intéressait pas. "C'est joli, mais ce n'est pas pour nous." Je n'ai plus qu'à aller à Los Angeles. Tiens, je tenterais bien "stagiaire café" chez Pixar. We went to have coffee with Terry J. at “Courthouse Coffee”. Terry is an illustrator. He does very realistic drawings, typical to the U.S. He lives here in Warsaw. He speaks impeccable French. He grew up in France. He told me that the thing he misses most about France is the food (If he would have told me it was the kindness of the French, I would have fallen off my chair). I showed him my drawings. I would like to know if my work could be published in the U.S. He told me that my style, very European, could find some interest along the east and west coasts, but probably not in the middle of the country. I have already met some American editors in Germany. My style, not really suitable for their American market, didn’t interest them. “It’s nice, but it’s not for us.” So, I guess all I have to do is go to Los Angeles. Hey! Maybe I could serve coffee at Pixar!
